Joseph Gurley1,2

M, b. before 1760, d. 10 March 1828
     Joseph Gurley was born before 1760. He married Mary Carter circa 10 January 1780 at Johnston County, North Carolina.3 Joseph Gurley was part of the 10th Regiment as a private in Captain Raifod's company. He spent time out of service effective September 13 and shortly after, he re-enlisted. in 1781 at North Carolina.4,5 He waslisted on the in 1784 tax list of at Captain Joseph Boon's Company, Johnston County, North Carolina, his household's taxable property included no land and one free poll.6 He legal document when he made a statement before Justice of the Peace William Good reviewing his military service in the Continental Army. He was trying to get back payment for his service in the Revolutionary War. on 19 February 1789 at Craven County, North Carolina.7,8 He aparently was granted his claim for payment for his War service, he was £136.60 on his original claim of £145.47 for his service as Private after 1790.9 He legal document on 22 June 1790 at Johnston County, North Carolina.10 He died on 10 March 1828 at Johnston County, North Carolina.11
