    He married Linda Rae Frye in 1966 and they were officially divorced in 1971. He married Judy Carol Lockhart in 1968. He then married Jackie Burns and had Jason Gurley in the 1970s. He married my mother Mary Lou Avina in 1980 and had me Natalie in 1981. He married Vickie Shipman in the early 1990s and had Robert James and Tiffany Paige.
    My father passed away from sepsis and cancer in 2012 or 2013. I don’t remember the exact year- the years are going by quickly. I was there when he passed away in the hospital in Wayne County, North Carolina.

    Ceafus Cohen Gurley (Born 11/5/1907) and Ruth King Gurley had 6 children. My father was the oldest. I had an Uncle David (now deceased) and Uncle Jerry. Aunt Rebecca (deceased), Aunt Cassie, and Aunt Rosemary. This was a second marriage for Ceafus as he married Madge Louise Durham in 1929.

    Ruth died of a stroke in the early 1990s- My dad and I were there living with her the morning that she had the stroke. I never got to meet Ceafus as he passed away in 1966 from an unknown primary cause/diabetes/emphysema.
