     John Alexander Gurley was born on 26 February 1875.² He and Col. Edward Jeremiah Gurley were "Before the turn of the centrury Col. Gurley passed on and his son, John Gurley continued the work began by his father so many years before. J.T. Davis of Waco acquired an interest in the Gurley ranch and after he passed on, his son, J.Lee Davis of Waco not only continued farming according to modern methods, but also recently interested himself in the production of oil on the land." circa 1900 at Marilin, Falls County, Texas.³ John Alexander Gurley died after November 1949.⁴

     James Mortimer Downs married Angelina Gurley, daughter of Davis Gurley and Patience Bland Smith, on 1 November 1850 at Leighton, Alabama.¹ James Mortimer Downs died on 1 September 1851.¹

     Sara Mortimer Sears was born on 21 September 1855 at Waco, Texas.²

     Mary Davis Sears was born on 15 November 1860 at Waco, Texas.²

     John Henry Sears was born on 27 August 1866 at Waco, Texas.²

     Lucy Jane Barnard married James Henry Gurley, son of Davis Gurley and Patience Bland Smith, on 6 December 1854.² Lucy Jane Barnard died on 16 January 1869.

     George Barnard Gurley was born on 20 September 1855 at Waco, Texas.² He was educated between 1861 and 1870 at Waco, Texas; attended private school.³ He was educated between January 1872 and June 1872 at Marvin College, Waxahachie, Texas.³ He was educated on 1 January 1873 at Texas Military Institute, Austin, Texas.⁴ He married Mary Elgin Hill on 28 February 1878.⁵ George Barnard Gurley was was Chief Engineer of the Gulf, Brazos and Pacific Railroad Company between 1890 and 1891 at office at 4171/2 Austin Avenue, Waco, Texas.⁶ Between 1890 and 1891, George Barnard Gurley lived at Hotel Lehman as a resident, Waco, Texas.⁷ He was a civil engineer and in other documents, a city engineer, during the early 1880's and 1890's, he was involved in the construction of the Texas and St. Louis railroad. According to the Waco City Directory in 1886 and 1887 he was the city Engineer; his office as at 145 1/2 3rd corner square between 1890 and 1891 at at City Hall, Waco, Texas.^3,7

     Rev. Howell Lewis Taylor wasthe minister of the M.E. (Methodist Episcopal) Church, South at Waco, Texas.¹ He married Agnes Keziah Gurley, daughter of Davis Gurley and Patience Bland Smith, on 23 November 1848.^2,3 Rev. Howell Lewis Taylor died on 3 January 1886.⁴

     Joseph Willis Taylor was born on 25 November 1849.¹

     Baylis Earle Gurley was born on 18 February 1866.^1,2

     Hallie Louisa Gurley was born on 25 April 1867.² She married Ridley L. Stribling circa 1888.³ Hallie Louisa Gurley died in 1943 at Waco, Texas.⁴

     Davis Robert Gurley Jr. was born on 17 October 1871 at Waco, TX.² He and Col. Edward Jeremiah Gurley were "Col. Gurley had much influence it was said in the building of the San Antonio and Aransas Pass road thro' this community. It was claimed by his friends that the many twists and turns in the vicinity of the present town of Satin was to accommodate him by the railroad weaving about advantageously to his farms. Dave Gurley and Bob Ross were the main builder of the road bed, cutting up timber and throwing up the road bed, they were part of the firm of Gurley, Ross and Gurley, which contracted with the railroad to throw up the road bed. Their Head quarters were at Waco. circa 1890.³ Davis Robert Gurley Jr. married Nell Sue Whitman on 12 July 1916 at Waco, TX. Davis Robert Gurley Jr. died on 18 January 1932 at Waco, TX, at age 60.⁴ He was buried in 1932 at Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, Texas.⁴

     Eliza Earle Gurley was born on 20 April 1882.² She was buried in 1929 at Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, Texas.³ She died in 1929 at Waco, Texas.³

     Loulie Earle Gurley was born on 1 June 1886.² She was buried in 1953 at Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, Texas.³ She died in 1953 at Waco, Texas.³

     Elizabeth Acklin also went by the name of Betty. She married James Harvey Gurley, son of John Gurley and Matilda Sharp Rutledge, before March 1854.^1,2 Elizabeth Acklin died in December 1866.³

     Mary Matilda Gurley was born on 17 November 1856. As of after 1857, Mary Matilda Gurley also went by the name of Mollie or Mattie.^2,3 She was orphaned after her parents died and raised by her uncle, Frank Ballou Gurley. According to her daughter-in-law, in an interview I did in March of 2000, when Molly was a young girl she was friendly with a man named Jack Daniels. Both Molly and Jack were short people, and according to Sara Hall, would have made a cute couple. Her uncle did not approve of Mr. Daniels and thought that his business plans would not amount to much. Uncle Frank intercepted letters from Jack to Molly. Jack settled in Lynchberg, Virginia and his legacy lives on until this day.

Frank Gurley was very involved in her life and her family until he died. after 1868.⁴ She lived on 30 September 1871 at Jackson County, Alabama.³ She was given notice that a petition was filed to sell the land of John Gurley, her grandfather on 14 April 1891 at Madison County, Alabama; After John Gurley's death a petition was filed to sell his land.⁵ Mary Matilda Gurley died on 19 June 1929 at age 72.⁶ She was buried after 19 June 1929 at Gurley Cemetery, Gurley, Madison County, Alabama.⁶

     Anna Elizabeth Gurley was born on 11 March 1859.² As of 1871, Anna Elizabeth Gurley also went by the name of Annie.      Cornella Acklin Gurley was born on 12 January 1860 at Alabama.² She was born on 12 January 1860.      Willis Gurley was born between 1766 and 1774.^3,4 He witnessed the land transfer of William Gurley on 6 August 1787 at Anson County, North Carolina; bought an additional parcel of land from Middleton Pool who had now moved on to Montgomery Co., NC; he paid £50.⁵ Willis Gurley and William Gurley were involved in a land transfer on 15 October 1799 at Anson County, North Carolina.⁶ Willis Gurley wasgranted land 150 acres for 30 shillings per 100 acres on 24 December 1799 at Anson County, North Carolina.⁷ He wasgranted land 200 acres at 50 shillings per 100 acres on 23 November 1801 at Anson County, North Carolina.⁸ He was appointed executor of his father, William Gurley's will in 1804 at Anson County, North Carolina.⁹ He was mentioned in the will of William Gurley as his son in October 1804 at Anson County, North Carolina; his will was proven in the October, 1804 Court and recorded in Anson County, North Carolina Will Book 2 on page 47.¹⁰ Willis Gurley witnessed the land transfer of Jacob Gurley on 4 March 1805 at Anson County, North Carolina; sells land to issac Williams a parcel of land for 50 pounds.¹¹ Willis Gurley witnessed the land grant of William Gurley on 8 July 1809 at 245 Acres, Anson County, North Carolina; William Sehorn or Mecklenburg to William Gurley, being 245 acres, part of grant 5484 originally issued to Joshua Williams. Wit: Thomas Vann Sen., Willis Gurley.¹² Willis Gurley witnessed the land transfer of William Gurley in July 1815; Division of William Gurley's land between his widow and heirs. First was the widows dower described in a plan drawn by Willis.Divisions 1-7 divided land between Willis Gurley, John Lanhorn, James Gurley, William Gurley, and Drury Austin.¹³ Willis Gurley witnessed the will of Jacob Gurley on 19 June 1820 at Anson County, North Carolina; executed.¹⁴ Willis Gurley witnessed the land transfer of Jackson Gurley on 29 August 1829 at Anson County, North Carolina.¹⁵

     John Williams Gurley was born circa 1846 at Alabama.^3,4 He was given notice that a petition was filed to sell the land of John Gurley, his grandfather on 14 April 1891 at Madison County, Alabama; After John Gurley's death a petition was filed to sell his land.⁵ John Williams Gurley lived on 14 April 1891 at Clarksville, Texas.⁵ He died on 22 May 1918.⁴

     James Richard Gurley also went by the name of Dick.³ He was born on 23 March 1850 at Gurley, Madison County, Alabama.³ He married Mary O.J. Middleton on 26 December 1882.³ James Richard Gurley was given notice that a petition was filed to sell the land of John Gurley, his grandfather on 14 April 1891 at Madison County, Alabama; After John Gurley's death a petition was filed to sell his land.⁴ James Richard Gurley was issued a U.S. land patent when he purchased 40 acres on 8 August 1895 at Madison County, Alabama.⁵ He died on 3 June 1931 at Gurley, Madison County, Alabama, at age 81.³ He was buried after 3 June 1931 at Gurley Cemetery, Gurley, Madison County, Alabama.⁶

     Thomas Frank Gurley was born on 30 June 1859.³ He Never married after 1889.³ He was given notice that a petition was filed to sell the land of John Gurley, his grandfather on 14 April 1891 at Madison County, Alabama; After John Gurley's death a petition was filed to sell his land.⁴ Thomas Frank Gurley died in May 1945 at age 85.³ He was buried after 1946 at Gurley Cemetery, Gurley, Madison County, Alabama.⁵

     Joseph Criner Gurley was born on 30 August 1861.³ He lived in April 1891 at Chattanooga, Tennessee.⁴ He was given notice that a petition was filed to sell the land of John Gurley, his grandfather on 14 April 1891 at Madison County, Alabama; After John Gurley's death a petition was filed to sell his land.⁴ As of 1920, Joseph Criner Gurley was also known as Joseph G. Gurley.⁵ As of 1920, Joseph Criner Gurley lived at Birmingham, Alabama.⁵

     Amelia Angelna Gurley also went by the name of Puss.³ She was born in 1849 at Alabama.⁴ She married W.T.
