James S. Gurley, 76 of 215 E. Wilson, died Thursday at 2 a.m. in a Houston Hospital after an illness of one year. He was born in Fulton County, Arkansas 1 Sept. 1880, a son of D. W. and Mary Jane Fielder Gurley.
Services were held at the Waldo Funeral Chapel and burial followed at the West Hill Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, Lilly; four sons, Robert Gurley and Russell Gurley both of Sherman; Lloyd Gurley of Wichita Falls; Chester Gurley of Los Angles, California; two daughters, Lois Holmes of Sherman and Leola Hammett of Orange; two sisters, Mrs. Almeda Cox of Howe and Mrs. Ethel Wax of Gilliam, Arkansas; nine grandsons and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. after 5 September 1956.³ He was buried after 5 September 1956 at West Hill Cemetery, Sherman, Texas.³
